MEET OUR TEAM
Adam Co, Lead Pastor (Transitional)
It is truly my joy and privilege to serve as your transitional pastor. Allow me to introduce myself. My name is Adam Co. My wife is Wensley and my four boys are Aiden, Aldridge, Avery, and Allister. I am currently a professor of theology at California Baptist University. But prior to that, I have pastored several churches for over a decade in the Chicago area as well as in southern California. And even earlier than my pastoral years, I practiced law as an attorney in California for a few years.
As a pastor, I am committed to the building-up God’s people through the clear and passionate teaching of God’s Word. So, during my time here at Church on the Hill, I hope to continue the church’s strong commitment to the Word of God and by it grow the congregation and impact the community with the gospel of Jesus Christ.
CHILDREN AND YOUTH
Karin Mazzeo, Next Gen Pastor
“We will tell the next generation the praiseworthy deeds of the Lord, his power, and the wonders he has done.” — Psalm 78:4
My name is Karin Mazzeo. I’m the Next Generation Pastor here at Church on the Hill. I started here 15 years ago as the Children’s Pastor and have been serving ever since. I am a transplant from the Chicagoland area who made Southern California home when I and married my husband, Alex. He and I live in Riverside with our dog, Watson.
I went to school in Illinois, getting my BA in Sociology and then worked in the social services/ nonprofit arena for several years while volunteering at my local church. God then called me to vocational ministry and I went to seminary at Dallas Theological Seminary, graduating in 2003 with a MaCE. I was ordained in 2018. In 2017, I became the Next Generation Pastor here and now have the opportunity to work with a great staff and awesome volunteers, overseeing our ministry from birth- young adult. I also get to lead a women’s bible study every Friday.
When I’m not working, I love music and art, reading books and drinking coffee with friends.
Jesse Silva, Student Ministry Lead
Hi! My name is Jesse Silva and I have the honor of influencing students and our volunteer youth leaders as the Next Gen Student Ministry Lead. I am a product of this youth group, having grown up in it myself. Over the years, many of the members of this church have become as family to me, and many of the youth as brothers and sisters. I appreciate every single parent who has entrusted me with their teenager, even if it is for only a few hours each week.
While in high school, I was a part of a program that allowed me to receive college units while pursuing my high school diploma. I graduated with my AS in Social and Behavioral Studies from Moreno Valley College in 2015. I attended Azusa Pacific University for three years and acquired my BA in Youth Ministry. I am currently pursuing my Master of Divinity from Azusa Pacific Seminary, aiming to complete it by Spring of 2021. Feel free to reach out to me if you ever have any questions!
Dwayne Morris, Children's Lead
Hi, I’m Dwayne Morris (the kids call me Mr. Dwayne). I am the Children’s Ministry Team Lead for Church On The Hill. I have been involved with children’s ministry for well over a decade. I have served as a Sunday school teacher, an AWANA leader, director and eventually commander, and I have served as VBS assistant director, co-director, and director.
I attended Liberty University where I studied the Bible and theology. I also attended the Kidmin Academy where I received a diploma in children’s ministry. Along with my formal training I have spent many hours studying the Bible, child development, and teaching techniques. I have a passion for learning new and better ways to teach kids about God’s love for them.
My children’s ministry philosophy can be found in Matthew 19:14, “Let the children come to me and do not hinder them, for to such belong the kingdom of heaven.” I want to remove any stumbling blocks that might serve to prevent children from truly knowing Jesus. I also believe that the best way to effect change in the world is through our children. If we can change the hearts of children, we can change the world. With this in mind, I am always trying to understand God’s word better, both for myself and for the children in my care. I am constantly looking for better ways to help children understand the Bible and to apply that understanding to their lives.
I would love to meet you, so feel free to come to the Fellowship Hall on Sunday mornings and say hello!
