From Pastor Jason Evans - April 2021

Greetings to my new church family,

I want to start by being super transparent and honest. I am writing my first and maybe my last "From The Pastor's Desk" article. Let me explain. The staff had asked me to write an article for  April's "The Hill Happenings" before you voted on me to become your Pastor. So, I would like to share my pastoral heart and thoughts about Church on The Hill.

As of this writing, I have had three months of conversations with your outstanding pastoral search committee, Leadership board, staff, and a few of the church's Godly pillars. God has truly blessed "The Hill" with great God-fearing and God-honoring people.

The pastoral search committee lead by Brain Concannon and his team was one of the many confirmations Tammy and I had in deciding to become your Lead Pastor. I told the committee that every time we talked, the more my heart grew for the church. Their care, support, and love toward my family and I was truly remarkable. Thank you all for serving and sacrificing for The Hill and the Lord.

The Hill's Leadership board, currently lead by Nancy Waldon, needs to be commemorated and honored as well. The amount of work the current and past Leadership board members have done the past few years is astonishing. Reorganizing the church constitution and governance has prepared The Hill for future potential growth. I am excited to link arms and serve with The Hill and Riverside with them.

I think many of you already know what I am about to say about The Hill staff because many of you have said the same thing to me. They are all AMAZING! From my first lunch meeting on, we were all on the same page about the exciting opportunity of working and serving together. Their love for the Lord, each other, and The Hill's future ministry have me overwhelmed with excitement to be part of the team.

There are so many of you that have shared part of your story with me. My desire in the coming months is for Tammy and I to meet you all. We want to hear your whole story of redemption, struggles, joys, and future dreams for the church. Again, The Hill is blessed with so many great people.

Tammy, Kristen, Sarah, and I are all excited to be a part of The Hill family! We can't wait to see how God will use us all to reach the city of Riverside and beyond for His Kingdom glory.

Excited to serve and worship Him with you,
Pastor Jason
